2012 Ti X-Trail starts without foot on brake?

Hi guys the other day I decided to start my X-trail without having my foot on the brake and it actually started. Just wondering if this is normal or something wrong with my car, because usually most cars with the keyless start feature requires you to have your foot on the brake to start the vehicle

You can reach in through an open drivers window and insert the key, rotate and the car will start.

The car cannot be operated until a driver sits in the seat, presses the brake pedal and moves shifter from Park.

The car will only start in Park or Neutral.

You cannot move the shifter from Park to Neutral etc without foot on the brake (there is an interlock mechanism).

You cannot remove the ignition key unless the shifter is in Park.

This prevents kids who can't reach the pedals from accidentally causing the car to move.

That would be the safety logic in the car.

Unless that's a change introduced in Series 5, I think there's something wrong with your X-Trail. My Series 4 does not start without a foot on the break. The knob won't turn. The other reply is talking about key, so I don't think he has a Ti.

Re:

John,

I just went outside and checked my Series 4 Ti, it starts normally without the foot on the brake in "P" gear position, so there is nothing wrong with that.

The knob of the Ti ignition would not turn if the keyless entry remote is not close enough to send the signal or the battery of the remote is on the way out.

Okay then it should be normal i don't think many people know that you can start the car up without having foot on brake (in P gear position) because when i went to the dealership to test drive the car and after test driving the salesman was demonstrating how does the keyless feature start works and he had is foot on the brake when he was starting it up, so I'll either call up Nissan or go to my Nissan dealer and see what they say.

Just called up my Nissan dealer and they said the car will start without having your foot on the brake (in gear p position) so I think something could be wrong with either your key or car John.
