Re: wiring spot/driving lights
Get a 12v powered electric fence energiser from Thunderbird or Galagher. 3 to 4 kv keeps the bulls off the fence, should keep the ferals from the lights!!!

Re: wiring spot/driving lights
Hi All,
I have recently acquired an 05/10 Nissan Xtrail T31 as my new family car in my rural town, QLD.
Which I noticed today has the old flat shape headlights (important for nudge bar details)
I am looking to purchase a new nudge bar from eBay that will look good without breaking the bank. The benefit of securing drivings lights on top is a big plus.
Driving lights: I have read through a lot of reviews and listened to a lot of opinions (especially on this forum).
My budget is <$500 for a good quality hid set of lights including all wiring components.
I'm thinking on 55W hid in a 7"/165mm housing producing 6000K of light as these parameters seem to be a mid-range spec with great performance. We do long road trips on the highway when needed, with some trips planned on unsealed roads.
I have considered Lightforce 170 (which I have a set of Halogens on my Hilux), Narva 225, fyrlyt, provision 7" but I've almost put my money on the narva 225 for $450 on eBay.
Does anyone have an opinion/experience on the following lights from Provision (which I noticed can be picked up cheaper on eBay)? http://www.hidlighting.com.au/hid-driving-lights.html#dr9000
Q1: will that $300 nudge bar listed above suffice? Anyone with negative opinions on that one?
Q2: which hid lighting brand/type/size/power will best suit my needs as described?
Q3: I have noticed that there is already wiring loom attached to nothing (inside a housing not doing anything) in front of my radiator.
Q3a: Can I get a "plug n play" kit that can use this wiring for my intended hids?
There is also a cable behind the panels behind the ESP switch. Therefore,
Q3b: Will a wiring kit allow me to connect my purchased switch to this cable?
Q3c: there is an additional plug that is sitting behind the radiator unused. Is this going to be needed if I can connect my driving lights as previously described to other cables?
Q3d: skip Q3a-c and install all wiring, relay and switch myself? Have had some experience when installing the ones on my hilux with majority of help from a mate.
I have photos describing the content/questions above. I will put them up providing it will be helpful to support my discussion.
This is long winded and if you've read this far and can help in anyway that would be much appreciated.
Lastly, I would like to purchase my nudge bar and driving lights and install them within 8 days when I make my long drive back to Brisie

Re: wiring spot/driving lights
Hi Benjamin,
Just a quick tip regarding your search for a nudge bar. Price is not everything when it comes to choosing the right nudge bar, you must ensure it comes with air-bag compliance certificate before worrying about it being able to carry your spotties.
All of the "made in China" nudgebars on eBay don't come with any air-bag compliance certificates which make fitting them illegal and against ADR.

Re: wiring spot/driving lights
Hi Ted,
Best place to take power for the relay is the terminal ontop of the alternator. From there you can run an inline fuse across to the relay mounted next to the existing fuse box behind the washer bottle.
The wire for the highbeam will be either a Black/Red or Green/Red and you should be able to get access to it from the loom running out the end of the steering column to use for your switch.
