Re:
There are a couple of common issues with the T30 model X Trail.
Crank and Cam sensors.
O2 sensors.
Butterfly screws.
There are a whole heaps of good points about them too so don't let the above list put you off the model.
Use the search function at the top of each page to find the threads for these issues.
They are a bit of a read but at least you will have a better understanding at what you might be up for.

Re: Newbie looking for older Exy
Hi Walter,
Please do a search on "buying second hand" and you will find existing threads with hints and tips as to what to look-out for.
I wouldn't worry too much about the need to replace the sensors (if the previous owners hasn't done it already). This is normal and comes with age with the car requiring these sensors to be replaced.
The butterfly screws issue Tony mentioned is a know one too but it is very rare, so it is good to keep it in the back of your mind and look for symptoms of it in the car you are buying (i.e. power loss, excessive oil usage and knocking sounds from the engine bay).
The rest of the information including all of the T30 Recalls is included in the existing threads we have on the forum.
