Sacrilege!

The GP is for riding. Last year I met some mates who had travelled from Queensland on Postie bikes. As has been said earlier, Philip Island is about the journey, not the destination.

If you don't ride, I guarantee that you will spend the next 12 months regretting it. The Snowies is my favourite route (although some of the magic disappeared last year when one of the mates I was ridng with snapped both of his femurs), but there's no bad way to get there....hey, you're on a motorcycle!!

Re:

I have 4+ hours of motorway riding to do to get to the Snowies mate. Fancy doing that stuck to 90ks an hour with trucks zipping past you? Where is the fun in that? No thanks mate, I will wait until I have my fulls in March next year and then can venture out more freely emoticon

I love the GP but I don't intend on getting wiped-out on the highway getting there emoticon

Re: Members Motorbikes

Jalal i understand your reasons for not riding but i disagree with your 4 hours of motorway riding. Its 4 hours if you ride the hume BUT................

You could ride through the national park to the gong, up mac pass to robertson then down through kangaroo valley to nowra. take main road 92 via tarago and come out past goulburn. then 1 hour of shoot off towards cooma and jump on the snowy mountains hwy turn off onto tooma rd and ride via cabrumurra into corryong. take murry valley highway to mount beauty. over the mountain to bright then up over hotham into omeo. from omeo to bairnsdale and princess highway following the coast to phillip island :-)

well thats what i would/am doing hahaha. AWESOME emoticon

There is always next year mate and I will have a much more capable bike by then as well.

Anyway, things will be decided this weekend when my mate comes around with his van to do the squeeze test LOL emoticon

BTW, are you starting from the Sutherland Shire by any chance? emoticon

Perfect! That's the sort of thing to do. I've been to PI for the past 4 years and don't think that I've ever spent more than 45 minutes on a motorway.

Re: Members Motorbikes

na I haven't. but i had a mate do it on his L's. In some of the sections we pulled away a bit but in our large group we tend to spread out over a small distance anyways. we always group back up at turnoffs and small downs. traffic lights help get the group back together, then through all the twisty bits the speed limit is only a max of 80 anyways. people with different skill levels ride at a different pace anyway. as long as you pre plan the next stop ahead as a meeting place its usually all good. emoticon

Re:

Your mate has an endurance of a camel LOL emoticon

I am not that young anymore, so I don't want to travel 1,400kms over 18 hours or so and spend the 3 days of the Moto GP race recovering with an ice pack emoticon

Maybe next time, for this year I will ride with you guys in spirit emoticon

Re:

Max, I just sent you an email about the trip. Let's take it outside this thread and leave this thread for members to post about their bikes.
