Re: Setting Cruise Control to default 'on'
NO as it is a safety hazard having an automatic system "armed" with only a single button press to make it active.

Re:
That may depend on whether it was an aftermarket installation or a factory feature. I have thought along the same lines at times, but to be honest, all you have to do is say the issue out loud;
It's just one button-press ..

Re: Setting Cruise Control to default 'on'
An auto-electrician it is then.
How it would affect my insurance is an odd question to bring up: many other cars allow you to leave the cruise permanently armed (Honda, Mazda, some BMWs, to name but a few), so I can't really see how and why this would create a problem. It is precisely because I have been able to leave it armed in the past, that I want it to be permanently armed now.
I'm also a bit baffled by people suggesting that it is 'just a button press' (so why bother, etc etc). I presume that these are people who baulked at the idea of electric windows, and also refuse to drive a car with an automatic gearbox on principle. In fact, I'm pretty amazed that they're even on the internet when we have a perfectly good postal service.
I'll keep trying, eh?
