Seven Mile Beach - Lennox Head, Saturday Feb 9th

OK, so on Saturday I woke up to a partly cloudy morning with showers on & off.
Decided to leave the Gold Coast and head down the coast to Ballina anyway.
I traveled with my wife and both kids and arrived at Shaws Bay in Ballina around 11.00am.
We met with Nicolas and Helen (Helenandme) and were joined by Mark (mmcdon23 ) soon after. Steve (BorisT31) was running late and we kept in touch.

Mark coming from Lismore has checked the beach prior to meeting us and said that although low tide is not until 3.00pm the beach is quite drivable. So the decision was made to head there. Shaws Bay was swarming with mozzies, so that was a good decision.

We drove to Lennox Caltex station and paid for our permits and headed to the beach access.
Tyre pressure was down to 20-25psi and we were all set.

2nd was Nicolas

And 3rd was Mark

We then headed north

And jellyfish (also heaps of Bluebottles)

Although called Seven Mile Beach, we drove about 4km and came across this sign

We drove the beach a few times (Steve and his family had joined us by then) and then decided to have lunch on the north end

The kids tried their luck sliding down the dune on a body board.

So, in all even though the beach was quite short it was a good day. The sun came out and it was great to catch up with Nicolas and meet Mark and Steve (and family). Being out and about sure beats sitting at home. So thanks guys for coming along

The talk around the camp fire was a possible day out driving on the beach from South Ballina to Evans Head pub. Which as you can imagine offers cold beer. Will see.

Regards
Ty

Hi Ty,
Not sure you can drive the full beach from South Ballina to Evans Head.
My mother lives at Evans Head and I often drive the beach getting on at Evans Head and head north but never driven all the way to Ballina. Not sure if there was a blockage, sign or just too far. Maybe ask Mark to check it out first.
