Re: T31 (Series 3 & 4) Headlights

Quick question for you all,

Can anyone confirm if the Series 5 headlights are the same/different compared to the Series 3/4. I'm specifically interested in the TL with HIDs. I'm stocking up with bulbs from www.powerbulbs.com in the UK and figure i'll do a large order in one go.

My understanding so far is:
Headlights: D2S
Sidelights: T10 (2 per side) [dotted strip like part]

And, just to confirm: http://db.tt/84PSZBV1 is what i'm assuming the light positioning is.

The headlights between series 3/4/5 look identical, however, just want to make sure. (I'd check the handbook, but the car hasn't arrived yet emoticon )

Cheers,

Jon

Re:

The light positioning in your photo is incorret, as the HID is the low beam and the standard halogen bulb is the high beam.

The headlights is the same for Series 3,4 and 5.

Hey Jalal what did you wire you DRL too? I have pos, neg both go to battery but a third wire to go to lamp so they turn off when the head lights are on?
Or if I have to have my Parker's on for them to be on I don't mind

Hi Steve,

The T31 Fog LIghts thread is HERE and it has the information you need. Consider fitting LED bulbs in the fog loghts.

WOW!!! So there's two parker lights in each headlight assembly? And to get that DRL look all you need to do is replace the standard globes with two LED T10 lights in each side? It looks AWESOME!!! And will match the HID a LOT better.

Re:

I find the factory low beams cut off dangerously sharp, is there a way to tilt the light beam a little up to maximise the beam throw a bit more. Would aftermarket bulbs improve this?

Re:

The headlights have beam adjustment knobs on them, so you can try that first. It has nothing to do with the bulb.

In the Ti and TL we have auto levelling beam adjustment, so it is not advisable to touch that at all.
