225/60 r17 tyre pressure

Hi guys,
What would be the lowest pressure on 225/60 R17 tyres for beach driving ? These are the standard tyres that came on our xtrail new.
Being a 60 series tyre I'm worried about going to low on pressure ?

I haven't done any sand driving Righteousself, but here's a link to some reading for you that may help --> The 4psi Rule

Re: 225/60 r17 tyre pressure

Depends on the sand - very soft and deep then the pressure has to come down to around 12psi; I have gone down to 8 in very deep stuff.

I have posted before on this & from experience there can be a noticeable difference at these pressures of even 3psi. You can get a sense by how hard the engine is working.

Obviously at these low pressures no sharp steering inputs.

I have also gone to the trouble of getting an accurate analog gauge with a scale range of 0-30, as I have had issues with digitals and lack of resolution of 0-60 or higher gauges at these low pressures
