Re:

Ozstickamn, I went with the cooper ATR's, but next round I'll be getting the Yoko Geo ATR's instead as the new cooper AT3 ones are far too big for the exy.

However it may take me a while to run these 4 down enough to change. Both spares are now generic rubber as I wasn't going to fork out for 2 new ones with the rest being down by half.

I was keeping the size and everything standard thats why I went Just the CS4's. At the time I didn't have much free time being on the road all the time for adventure.

Are the Yoko Geo ATR's much bigger than the standard size.

Re: Replacement Tyres

Closest place that Yoko authorise for the "Free Road Hazard Protection" is Narooma - 50k one way. HAVE to travel to Nowra tomorrow, so bit the bullet & booked into BJ's for 4 x Geolander AT/S's
Will be a 2 hr trip home, so should have a fair idea if I'll be emoticon or emoticon

$278 per fitted & balanced. $13 per up from when I enquired 2-3 wks back, but their alignments are cheaper than everyone else I got a quote from!

My Cooper CS4,s have now been on my ext for 60,000 km and I have just been told they will last for at least another 60,000 km so very happy with that outcome indeed.

Re: Re:

235/70R 16 Geolandar tyres on...

Still early days, but so far impressed with how they rode the tar and held the bends, and about 10-15% quieter than the old Cooper S/Ts

Got home and took a run out to a track I know. Went all the way in 2wd till the end which becomes a climb of about 25º for about 25-30m. At this point, I put her into 'Lock' mode.
This thing use to buck and pig-root while I rev'ed the crap out've her getting up...this time, not as hard revs and she climbed effortlessly.
So far so good... 8D

BJ's recommends 38 in both front AND rear *lol*, I think I'll be dropping this down to 36 f, 34 r once I've ran a couple of tanks through her to get a milage record.

I remember $5 use to get me a return train ticket, movie - with food and drinks, and a couple of games of pool emoticon emoticon

O'well...the business man still wants his quick high profit, the office worker still gets paid a bundle compared to the labourer who's busting his back for scraps, and life goes on! emoticon

Re: Replacement Tyres

Thought I better continue this story here.

Bought a set of 5 Yokohama Geolander GO12s, in April 2010.

November 2011, at 47,3520km the front ones suddenly went bald. I have only ever bought full sets of tyres, so this came as a shock. They'd been serviced regularly by Bob Janes where I got them. Only thing I can assume is they were "rotated" side to side, but not all around. (Why would they do this?)

At the time I had to replace the front ones, they told me I'd be lucky to get 5,000km more out of the rear ones, which still looked pretty good to me.

Last Friday, exactly 11months later, I finally replaced them - after a comfortable 20,000km.

I am a bit narky about this, as I feel I've been locked in to Yokohama whether I like it or not.

The Geo's are brilliant tyres on the dirt and perform very well generally for most of the year, but when I'm driving around in the Far North in the middle of the Wet Season with inches of water over the roads, I keep wishing I had my old Cooper CS4s.

I do less than 40km of gravel road out of every 500km I travel (usually fortnightly), so I'm thinking I would be better off with highway tyres, and it would be good encouragement to slow down a bit on the gravel...

Now I'm stuck for another few Wet Seasons before I can change. 'nuff said.
