Re:

Julie,

Photocopy the service book and start from the 10,000kms service where you can hand-write and add 170K, the maintenance schedule will be the same all over again. Alternatively, ask your local dealer for a fresh copy of a service book where you can continue to record servicing beyond 160K.

Re:

Rang a couple dealers re getting another service book - $40 at one place because they'd had it forever and no-one ever bought them, and $59 from another because that was the price but when pressed would drop it to $50. Aaahhh, is it worth it? One thing it would keep me organised, and easier to keep track of what each service should be instead of calculating each time.

Re:

Not worth it Julie, you might as well create your own Excel spreadsheet and track your services that way.

Re: Servicing The X Trail

Hey All,

I have done 1350kms and haven't done my first 1000km. When I rang the Nissan Service the manager said that he has had some cars come in near 2000km service. So he said don't stress too much about it and bring it in on the 13th Feb, that's when it will probably have about 1900km or even a little more.

Any thoughts, am I stressing too much?

Wal

Yeah Wal,

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I took mine at 1,750kms and they were done with it while I waited at reception (30 mins tops), as all they do is do a quick check-over, unless you ask them to check something in particular.

Re: Servicing The X Trail

Here's a story!!!

Over Christmas met a neighbour that lives a few doors down and has a CVT 2008 T31 ST he took delivery of new, as a lease car. Done about 50,000kms.

I asked him how it was going and he said:
"Oh, OK - but there is a bit of hydraulic lifter noise that is a worry".

I asked him how long since he had it serviced?

He said:
"Oh it's NEVER been serviced - just haven't had time to book it in"

I said:
"You mean it hasn't had one service or oil change in the past 3 or 4 years?"

He said:
"That's right"

I was totally STUNNED and Speechless.

Later I made him promise to get it serviced - which he later did claiming:
"Gee it runs better now!!!"

I reckon that is testimony to the toughness of X-Trails and the idiocy of some owners.

Pity the poor guy who buys it next.

Re: Servicing The X Trail

I know slightly off topic but I had a mate with an old Morris Minor and he would collect the oil from our oil changes and use it in his. Car never missed a beat or perhaps it did but you didn't notice. The only new lubricant he would use was via the grease nipples on the front balljoints. Some on this forum may be too young to know what I am talking about. emoticon

Re: Servicing The X Trail

Hello,
I recently completed the 60000km service at home. There were a few items I couldn't do that are listed in the service schedule relating to the Diesel. I booked in with my local Nissan Dealer to "ADJUST INTAKE AND EXHAUST VALVE CLEARANCES". I was phoned later in the day by the mechanic that it was a major job and wasn't necessary unless there were unusual noises, etc. I'm wondering WHY it is listed in the service maintenance schedule for the diesel? Can anybody enlighten me please?
The other matter is I could not find a maintenance service schedule specifically for the T31 Diesel? There is available a schedule for the T31 petrol. Could somebody advice where this could be sourced? (The factory supplied service booklet seems to be very generic and not real specific).
Cheers
