4x4 Manual Series IV Clutch Shudder on Incline

Evening all.

Was hoping someone may be able to shed some light on the issue I've been experiencing with my X-Trail since purchasing new back in July.

Without fail, on any modest incline (and sometimes even flats) the car will shudder when releasing the clutch - a sickening slipping / shuddering before gripping and taking off. The scary part is that it doesn't discriminate between low or high revs - even riding the clutch a bit doesn't seem to help much. The car had its 10,000 km service last week and the dealer considered it normal operation.

Has anyone experienced or heard of a similar issue with this vehicle?

Re:

I'm noticing 'Clutch Shudder' in slightly different circumstances...

I have a 2011 TS.

I notice the shudder mostly when downgearing from 4th to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd and it shudders when I release the clutch. I do notice it shudders less (or not at all) if I'm on the accelerator and bringing the engine revs up a bit to match the gears. Also just had a 10K service and had them take a look - they noted it down as normal engine/transmission vibration.

I was going to wait until my next service and take it to another mechanic and have him take a look at it and give his opinion. Don't really want the clutch completely falling apart when I'm in the middle of nowhere and can't call for assistance - some places can be so remote and a car failing can be dangerous.

ExyCol like you said sounds similar but different.

I've been thinking about trying a non-Nissan mechanic as well just to get a second opinion for exactly the same reason - some places in Australia you can't get phone service and even if you luck out and another car comes past, you can be hours from the nearest mechanic!

Do you think it's starting to improve with age or actually getting worse?

Re:

I've only noticed the shudder for the last 2 - 3000KMs and during that time I haven't noticed it get better or worse. I actually didn't notice the problem at first until I had someone else drive the car and point it out, and now I know it's there it's annoying. I suspect previously I had been moving the clutch out slower to avoid the shuddering - I have possibly been sensing subconsciously dropping the clutch too quickly would cause the shudder and hence I would simply slow down the clutch release stopping the shuddering from happening.
