T31 Throttle Body Spacer

I may be off base, as I don't even own an X-Trail yet!

Does anybody know if the throttle body from a 2007+ Sentra Spec V matches the T31 throttle body? If so:

Also, have any of you tried the coolant bypass for the throttle body? Even though it is a minimal change in performance, I read that it does leave the throttle body a bit cooler.

Re:

Hi Scott,

We have previously discussed the '07+ Sentra Spec V QR25DE engine in THIS thread and just by looking at the photos of the Sentra engine compared to the T31 one, it seems that the layout and components are identical, which also means that the throttle body spacer for the Sentra and other performance components might fit the petrol T31 exy.

Someone has to take the first step to try it out, like we previously have done with the T30 throttle body spacer and later found-out it fits and works.

This could be your first challenge when you get an xtrail. emoticon

Re: T31 Throttle Body Spacer

Yes, absolutely. I will have to not be chicken and be the first to try some stuff. The U.S. is a big place and often times things can be found for cheap. Since I work there and get mail there, I will try some simple things, like the spacer. Actually, I'm talking to a machine shop (via email) that will accept my throttle body, intake manifold and new oem gasket and bore the tb and do the same to the manifold to match the new diameter. I think for $125 tb and $90 for the intake. Shipping within the States is high. I'm sure ya'll have excellent machine shops over yonder! Has anyone done this on the previous model?

Thanks for your patience, as I am only in the research stages! emoticon

You should be researching mods that won't stuff up your new car warranty emoticon

You seem to be researching mods more than looking for the car itself. hahahaha emoticon

Re: T31 Throttle Body Spacer

I found a guy who is interested to make spacers similar to the ones a lot of you have been using on the T-30's. He said if I send him a throttle body (used or broken, is o.k.) he would make the first one for me for free.

After that, Ill turn the information over to the X-Trail Forum administration if they want to purchase wholesale to then get them out to all the down under fellows.

Before I purchase and ship a used throttle body, I just want to confirm that it is the same one as the 2007+ Sentra Spec V. And if somebody could get an OEM part number that would be really appreciated.

The twins have arrived!! emoticon

I'n not talking about tailpipes you bunch of grease monkeys! My wife delivered a little boy and a little girl. Healthy and doing well! emoticon

Re:

Scott,

What's the point of re-inventing the wheel when there is already an existing '07+ Sentra Spec V spacer available for you to try when you get your car? I don't see a point in asking anyone to re-manufacture it when it is already there and available to test? The cost of it is not that high either to use as a trial. It will cost you far greater in shipping a TB than buying an existing Sentra spacer and trying it out.

Congrats on the newborns mate!

Re: T31 Throttle Body Spacer

Thanks.

Obviously, I've been reviewing the forums. From what I father it seems a lot of people are under the impression that the smooth bore spacer doesn't properly atomize the fuel vapors. This other fellow wants to make it differently, I believe. That is with some type of swirled effect. And since he said he would give it to me free, I would be paying for a junkyard throttle body and shipping which is close to the purchase price of the 3/4" one that is now available with the smooth bore, not only that, but I would be supporting a manufacturer who is interested in putting more products on the market for the X-Trail. Granted it's the same product, but I think it has something to do with competition or capitolism or some such thing. emoticon

P.S. I'm shipping within the U.S.

Re:

Well mate, had you researched and read the T30 throttle body spacer you would have realized that it does have the swirl effect bore, that is the whole point of the spacer in the first place and it works perfectly fine in the T30.

I find it strange that you're buying parts and modifying them before actually buying the car itself. Since the manufacturer is so interested in copying other existing designs, maybe he should look at the Sentra throttle body (in the US) and the existing spacer (in the US) that is available to make a decision if this venture will be worth it.

Re: T31 Throttle Body Spacer

I guess it does sound strange. But, I live in an area where many items are unavailable. So, while I'm in the States, I try to pick up things to keep me busy while I am on my days off from working offshore.

I sincerely plan to purchase a used X-Trail T31. I hope it doesn't offend anyone that I am asking about these mods in advance of my actual purchase.

The P2R 3/4" spacer which is available now for the T31 has a smooth bore, I believe. That's why I am kind of leary about trying it, as I read somewhere maybe in the Nissan Forums about how it was better to keep the fuel vaporized or something like that.

Anyways, if anybody knows the actual Nissan parts number for the throttle body, I sure would appreciate it. I found one for a 2008 Altima sedan 2.5L for $72. and $15 shipping at a used parts warehouse in Houston.

Again, I am glad to be able to participate in this and other forums to learn more about engines, suspensions, etc. emoticon
